Travel Vaccines
If you are travelling abroad, make
sure you are vaccinated against the vaccine preventable diseases and have
your medication for malaria cover, if necessary.Depending
on where you are going to, you may need the following vaccinations:
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis B
Typhoid
Diphtheria
Polio
Yellow Fever
Rabies
We recommend
commencing your travel
vaccinations at least 6 weeks prior to travel. Some
vaccinations require 3 doses (Hep B, Rabies) so you may need to start
sooner.
Don’t be put off if
you’ve left it later than 6 weeks as partial cover is better than no cover at
all and a ‘short course’ can be offered for travel
vaccinations requiring more than one dose (1 month prior
to travel).
Please see our fees
section for a list of costs. If you need further advice on what travel
vaccinations you require for your destination, we
would recommend taking a look at http://www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk/home.aspx for some
extra information about vaccinating before you travel. Alternatively, please
phone us on 01 872
7087 for further information.
Travel
vaccination appointments can be made anytime on any day
of the week, just advise the receptionist that the appointment is for
travel vaccinations.
